Manchester Zoology department

Bulgaria

Me and Mine went to Bulgaria in the summer of 2008. We signed up to do volunteer work on a farm in the remote Tserovo, up the Rhopode mountains, and the journey was a strange one. We spent six days on the so-called eco farm that strived to be completely self sufficient and failed, very badly. We spent time doing as much as we could, from collecting wood in the forest, building fences, gardening, constructing Geodesic domes with missing parts, and secretly indulging in wild strawberries picked from the forest floor.
